Youth Mentoring Training FAQ's

Is training online or face to face? Online, unless request for face to face in house training. 

Do I need to have done any training before taking a course? You need not have any formal training to attend any of our training, however for Intermediate and Advance Level training we recommend that you at least have 6 - 12 months experience working with young people, in a voluntary or paid role, and experience of youth issues. 

How can we book? Please book by paying online or if you prefer paying by invoice send an email to [email protected] outlining the following: Your selected course, number of participants attending, email addresses of participants, preferred training date (providing two options). 

How can I pay? You can make payment via, stripe found on each training page, email [email protected] to request an invoice or pay by bank transfer to The Mentoring Lab, Account Name: Sort Code: , referencing your full name. 

How is the course delivered? All courses are currently being delivered by our trainer who is a practising youth mentor. 

How far do you travel to deliver face to face training? We travel where we are needed. Across the UK and Europe. We have previously delivered training internationally in Antigua, the Caribbean and Ghana. 

What are the minimum and the maximum number of attendee we can train in-house?There is no minimum number of candidates required, we are happy to train 1 to 1 should you wish.  With regard to the maximum number, this depends on the size of the training room you have available, however we can train to a maximum ratio of 1:40. 

What facilities do we need to provide for training at our provision?A suitable training room with tables and chairs. A LCD projector, screen, flipchart and an extension led, if needed for the trainers laptop. 

Can you tailor the course to our specific requirements? Yes, all of our courses can be tailored to your organisational needs. 

Can the course be delivered over several sessions? Yes.  A one-day course could be delivered over two half day sessions, or a three-day course could be delivered over a three week or three month period.

What does the assessment entail? With the exception of the Level 3 assignment based Youth Mentoring qualifications, the majority of our accredited CPD courses are tested by pre and post reflection questionnaires.
